Major General, Gagariga is a product of Kings College, Lagos. He later gained admission into the Nigerian Defence College (NDA), before proceeding for a Master's degree in Public Administration from National Open University (NOUN).

Major General Gagariga has held many positions in the Nigerian Army; he was a Troop Commander, General Staff Officer Grade 3, Battery Commander, Instructor Gunnery, General Staff Officer Grade 2 Training, Staff Officer 2 Simulation Training, Training Officer Grade 1 , Directing Staff (Nigeria and Ghana), Artillery Representative/Instructor and Assistant Director. Presently, he is the Commander, Artillery Regiment(General Support) Onitsha. Major General Gagariga is married with children.

He is a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Public Management of Nigeria.
